DOG LEG PREACHER - BORN AGAIN!

Dog Leg Preacher, headquartered in Screaming Skunk Studios, Machias, Washington, has been around for a few years. Locals recognized them as a 3-piece band of great musicians with a common goal - spread their brand of hard-edged, aggressive, original rock music.

Up until recently, that was the case. However, Dog Leg Preacher has undergone a rebirth. The recent addition of Peruvian guitar phenom Marcelo Portaro, a 21-year-old whiz kid with three years of advanced musical training received in Barcelona, Spain. This prodigy has been playing guitar for only 8 years, but brings a truly amazing level of talent as the new lead guitar player. Marcelo is no doubt bordering on guitar genius. His skills surpass those with established careers in professional music, with years and years ahead of him to only further hone his amazing skills. It is natural to compare this player's skills and performance level to established artists such as Steve Vai and Yngwie Malmsteen. His superior technical knowledge allows him to create an amazing array of sounds, and he has the uncanny ability to connect the guitar tones to the lyrics, which are often edgy, esoteric, and eerie.

The other exciting addition to Dog Leg Preacher is Solomon Kane as the new bass player, allowing Captain Kurke to assume frontman position. Kane is a very talented and experienced bass player with several near brushes with big fame in his career. Kane chose to pursue his own dreams and often regrets those choices. When asked why he chose to reenter the original music scene, Kane cited his excitement about seeing a band that was going to GO SOMEWHERE, and wanting to be a part of it. This bass player is an extremely talented song writer with many credits to his name. Look for some of the good ghosts from his past to decide to do the same - connect up with Dog Leg Preacher as they, no doubt, shoot to the top of the original rock game.

Maintaining a dominant position with Dog Leg Preacher is Jon Fosdick, who up until now was considered the musical brains of the group. Jon's ability to write great lyrics and the ability to play multiple instruments, besides excelling with the sticks, is manifest in Dog Leg Preacher's first album, which received incredible airplay worldwide. Fosdick and Portaro will be working head-to-head on all musical arrangements from this point on.

With the addition of Kane, former bass player Captain Kurke has been freed up to assume his role of front man for Dog Leg Preacher. Kurke's voice has been compared to some of the best screamers in the business. His vocal strength is evident as after two hours he is still doling it out with that in-your-face style. His energy on stage is contagious, and his interactions with his fellow players draws the crowd in tight.

Portaro and Kane are both strong writers and players, and Dog Leg Preacher will be incorporating many of their originals into their show and onto their new album. With the addition of these new players, work has begun on recreating the second album which was on the verge of release at the time of all these positive changes.

Look for a stronger and more musically complex sound from these guys on their second album and in their live show. It has been said that there isn't anything new for those who don't care for 3-chord head banging and hip-hop. Well, keep your ear to the ground because Dog Leg Preacher has had a rebirth and undoubtedly will be a band that moves forward with the speed of sound, both on the internet and on stage. Look for them to be opening for the big names when they blow through Seattle - seriously! Dog Leg Preacher is THE band to watch for!

Currently you can catch Dog Leg Preacher every Thursday through July for a free two-hour show at J.R. Phinickey's, 1352 State Avenue, in Marysville, with music starting at 9:38 p.m.

Front Man Joe Kurke & Bassist Solomon Kane

Hola Javier

JL

Hi there Dog Leg Preachers,

Even though the comment has nothing to do with the Eurocup, I have checked your websites and videos and got impressed.

I promise to publish a note about the band, tomorrow (Tuesday, June 24). Of course, it will be en español. Keep on rockin'.

Regards from the SF Bay,

JL

Hola Javier
