Hello Everyone,

I just had the pleasure of speaking with Chi's mother. She, as well as the entire Cheng family, would again like to thank you for all your love and support and knows God is healing Chi because of your prayers, love and good work.

This Sunday saw the first signs of your prayers in action. Chi was able to hear and respond to his father's request to move his lower lip. His father also administered a tendon reflex test, of which both legs responded with movement. Doctors continue to remain optimistic, and the energy at the hospital remains very positive.

The family would also like to send a special thank you out to the three off duty EMTs that stopped shortly after the accident and saved Chi’s life. It was by the Grace of God that these three individuals happened to be traveling on the road with medical gear in tow at the time of the accident. If not for them, the chances of Chi making to the hospital alive would have been poor.

Please, keep your prayers, thoughts, and love coming!

Hello Everyone,

Chi's condition remains stable. He is still hooked up to a respirator to control his breathing, but can now breathe on his own. Yesterday, while visiting, I let him know that all his fans are praying and waiting for him to wake up. He responded by moving his eyes underneath his eyelids. We are so very happy with all of these small victories.

Yesterday Fieldy, the bass player for Korn, came to see Chi. As his visit was concluding, this nice, wonderful man left me with this, "we have the freedom of choices to make, but do not have the freedom to choose the consequences of the choices we make." We make so many choices each day, both small and large, that shape the lives we live. Can anyone create a life making bad choices? Today's assignment in this: please think everything through today, both the insignificant as well as the important. Make positive choices and be aware of the consequences of your actions. Doing this will you and those around you better.

Please continue to pray for Chi, and spread kindness when you can.

Respect, Love, and Gratitude,

Jeanne

Chi Update 11/13/08

Hello Friends,

Chi continues to be strong. Since his arrival at the hospital, he's had several probes attached to his brain that monitor and help control certain brain activity such as the ICP (brain pressure). Due to the activity remaining steady as well as the numbers coming back positive, today doctors are began removing the probes. We are so grateful for the small victories and know that your prayers and loving energy are what is keeping him progressing forward. Thank you, thank you, thank you for all your prayers. Please keep them coming.

The good deeds going around are so wonderful!

No Man is an Island- by Joan Baez

No man is an island,
No man stands alone,
Each man's joy, is joy to me,
Each man's grief is my own.

We need one another,
So I will defend,
Each man as my brother,
Each man as my friend.

I saw the people gather,
I heard the music start,
The song that they are singing,
Is singing in my heart.

No man is an island,
Way out in the blue,
We all look to the one above,
For our strength to renew.

When I help my brother,
Then I know that I,
Plant the seed of friendship
That will never die.

I've never felt more loved and connected to this extended family that is keeping us in prayer. Today please reflect on our connectedness and how we are all family. Everyone you meet is your sister, your brother, your daughter, or your son. Some of them are just the family that you haven't met yet. Today would you please smile at a stranger? Maybe say, "Have a great day." If someone is looking sad or is short tempered with you, they probably need this all the more. This small kindness may just be the best thing that will happen in their whole day. By the way, just smiling releases the same happy chemicals in your body that are released when you are joyful and help you to be happy too.

God Bless You All,
Jeanne

P.S. Oprah, I'm working on your assignment. Please call me, Velvet Hammer has my number.

P.S.S. Dr. Oz, You are my son (Chi's) resident at Columbia. Head's-up to you. You can help Oprah with her assignment. Please call me.

Sigamos fuertes...

Hola amigos:

Hello Friends,

My apologies for the delay in updates. Chi's condition remains the same - serious, but stable. He still lies in a coma, however his vitals (heart, lungs, and blood pressure) all exhibit very stable functions and doctors have begun removing much of the excess monitoring equipment. Chi remains strong in his fight to recover.

Winston Churchill once said, "Never give in - in nothing, great or small, large or petty, except to convictions of honour and good sense." Today, please be especially aware of your personal choices. Never give in to pressure and try not to be discouraged. Your good choices each day will bring good things back to you and create a better life for you and yours.

Moving forward, I will be creating a new blog dedicated to my daily updates. It will take me a few days to get this up and running, so please bear with me. Deftones will continue to update you on Chi's condition when there’s a significant change in his condition.

Thank you again for keeping Chi in your prayers. It's keeping all of is strong.

Our love to you all,
Jeanne

Hello,

Chi remains in a coma, and as of this morning there's been no significant change in his condition. Last week he was moved out of the Intensive Care Unit and transferred to a brain rehabilitation hospital in Northern California. The hospital specializes in the care and management of traumatic and non-trauma related brain injuries with a team of highly skilled therapists, nurses and consultants. He's in great hands.

Please continue to pray for our brother, and thank you all for your love and support.

Amigos:

Confirmed: Deftones will be appearing at Bamboozle Left, April 5th at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre in Irvine, CA. Tickets are now on-sale HERE.

With the announcement of our appearance on Bamboozle, we felt like its time to address some things.

First, Chi.
Our fallen comrade has not made significant progress as of late, but continues to fight on from his accident. Doctors are working feverishly to return our brother to us, and we continue to hold out hope and faith that Chi returns to the life he has waiting for him and can join us on stage once again.

For everyone that knows Chi, knows that he never wanted down time. Chialways wanted to keep working and never slow down, which is why we feel confident in returning to the stage at Bamboozle in April. Chi would want it, and we want to make sure we're keeping his legacy alive.

Back in 1999, Chi had to leave the band for a brief moment and our closefriend Sergio Vega filled in to keep the train moving. 10 years later, Sergio is going to step in once again while Chi is down. Sergio is family to us, and had received Chi's blessing before, so without a doubt we know that if Chi could tell us now, he would give us his blessing again.

In the meantime, we continue work on our record, and as for Bamboozle, we felt like we needed to poke our heads up for a quick breath before we buckle down and get this record finished... So we'll see you all in Irvine.

-Deftones
